Smarties has two manufacturing facilities, one in Union, New Jersey, and one in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada.

There are 6 classic flavors:
White = Orange/Cream
Yellow = Pineapple
Pink = Cherry
Green = Strawberry
Purple = Grape

Did you know Smarties are peanut-free and top allergen‑free?
All Smarties products are free from peanuts, tree nuts (e.g. almonds, walnuts, pecans), shellfish, fish, milk, eggs, soybean and wheat. If the UPC number on the packaging begins with “0 11206”, it is manufactured in a peanut-free facility as well.
Did you know Smarties are gluten‑free?
Smarties and our entire line of products are gluten free. If the UPC number on the packaging begins with “0 11206”, it is manufactured in a facility that is gluten‑free and safe to eat if you have Celiac Disease.
Did you know Smarties vegetarian/vegan?
All Smarties products are vegetarian and vegan.
Do you know what they call Smarties in Canada?
In Canada, Smarties candy is known as Rockets.
Did you know Smarties only contain 25 calories per roll?
Did you know as of 2019, Smarties Candy Company was producing over two billion Smarties rolls every year, according to CNBC. That adds up to around 30 billion tiny Smarties tablets. To keep up with that number, Smarties needs to operate 24 hours a day, five days a week between the both factories. That’s basically
1,000 tablets per minute!
Did you know the Smarties Candy Company is run by three women?
After founder Edward Dee left the business, his two sons Michael and Jonathan took over the family business, and then Dee's three granddaughters, all in their 30s as of 2019, took over as co-presidents.
Sarah Dee, Liz Dee, and Jessica Sawyer grew up in the Smarties factory, they absolutely intend to keep the family tradition going, hoping their children will someday take over and and truly keeping it a family tradition.
Did you know the original Smarties machines were used for compressing gunpowder?
Originally the first Smarties were first developed in England by utilizing old gunpowder pellet machines, repurposed for candy making after World War I. They were also flavored cinnamon and clove.
Did you know Smarties are not made using any liquid?
Smarties are made with only dry ingredients. Smarties combines its five ingredients, producing a dry mixture that's primed and ready for pressing. Each of the ingredients has to be ground just perfectly and then they are all compressed by a punch and die machine into the shapes that we all recognize.
Each of the six flavors are made individually with their separate coloring and flavoring, and once compressed they're put into buckets. Each of the buckets are eventually combined to mix the colors, before they head to different machines for packaging.

Dextrose, Citric Acid, Calcium Stearate, Natural and Artificial Flavor, Colors (Red 40 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Blue 2 Lake).
